James Verdin, Sr.

December 7, 1943 — September 15, 2020

James Wilbert Verdin Sr., 76, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 10:53am surrounded by his wife and sons. James was a native of Dulac, LA and a resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to visitation on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at The Pentecostals of Houma Church at 1810 Bayou Blue Road, Houma, LA. Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at The Pentecostals of Houma Church from 9:00am until service time.  Ministry Services will begin following visitation on Saturday at The Pentecostals of Houma Church at 11:00am with burial to take place in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church Cemetery.

James is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Clara Pierre Verdin; children, James Verdin Jr. and wife Amy, Travis Verdin and wife Diana; sisters, Mary Jean Johnson and Dorena Touchard; brother,  Jessie Verdin; grandchildren, Christopher and wife Alyssa, Travis II, and Jacob Verdin, Alexandra and Katie Blair; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Skyler, and Vincent.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sadie Fitch Verdin; brothers, Harry Verdin, Paul Henry Verdin, Joan Ivy Verdin, Harry “Ju-June” Verdin, Jerry Jim Verdin, Joseph “Jo-Jo” Verdin; sisters, Lucille Ann Lyons and Ethel Verdin; grandson, Phillip Andre Verdin.

James was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and his service to our country will be honored by the United Veterans League.

James retired from the oil and gas industry in 2004. James was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends, most especially his grandchildren. James had a passion for cooking and made many wonderful dinners for his family and friends.

James faith, love and kindness will never be forgotten by the lives he touched. He was often called a Prince among men; many people called on him for his advice and words of wisdom.  He will forever and always be loved and remembered.
