Dorothy "Dot" Guidry

November 4, 1920 — February 20, 2021

Dorothy “Dot” Rayanetta Smith Guidry, age 100, born on November 4, 1920 in the Hancock House in Hancock’s Bridge, New Jersey which is now a historical site. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 20, 2021 at her residence in Houma, Louisiana. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in Chapel Dauphine of Chauvin Funeral Home on Friday, February 26, 2021 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Liturgy of the Word Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery No. 2.

Dot is survived by her children, Dorothy G. Bundrum (Ed) of Seabrook, Texas, Rudolph “Rudy” J. Guidry Jr. of Tyler Town, Mississippi, Cary J. Guidry (Donna) of Houma, Louisiana. John “Johnny” M. Guidry (Christy) of Houma, Louisiana; grandchildren, Rebecca Guidry, Karen Eckstein, Mark Bundrum, Kandace Authement, Kristen Guidry and Nicole Guidry; greatgrandchildren, Lane Naquin, Kraken Authement, Trent Harris, Cole Harris, Koy Authement, Brady Bundrum, Kru Authement, Makalyn Langston, Marshall Bundrum, and Quinn Eckstein.

Dot is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph “Peco” Joseph Guidry, Sr.; parents, Joseph P. and Vesta Weatherby Smith; siblings, Ethlynde Cocking, Josephine Fithian, Jim Smith, Georgeanna Smith, Hazel Harris.

Dot was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She proudly served as a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Dot touched many hearts and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Haydel Memorial Hospice and all for their love and care given to Dot.  

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic; local and CDC regulations require facemask and proper social distancing while attending funeral services.
