Donald Pickering

Donald Ralph Pickering, age 95, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022. Donald was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Houma.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Monday, April 18, 2022, beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Don is survived by his children, Donn Pickering and wife Lydia, James “Jim” Pickering and wife Sae, Celeste Pickering Robichaux and husband Colby; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Don is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen LeCompte Pickering; parents, Archie Roscoe Pickering and Ella Ruth Gilbert Pickering; siblings, Arnett Pickering, Harold Pickering, and Dorothy Nell Pickering Janata.

Don was an amazing man who loved his family dearly. Don proudly served his country in WWII, he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific. Don was the second of five generations of Naval Military Service. Don co-owned and operated Guidry and Pickering Electrical Contractors for many years. Don was a former parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and held several positions and a current parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and a 4^th degree Knight of Columbus. Don loved carnivals and was active in the Krewe of Christopher and Terreanians. Don leaves a beautiful legacy behind to be united with his loved ones who passed away before him. He was greeted by his lovely wife and they both shall rest together in the arms of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
