Wilsie Picou, Jr.

December 14, 1928 — March 12, 2023

Wilsie “T-Wee” Joseph Picou, Jr. at 94, resident of Houma passed away March 12, 2023.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the graveside service Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cemetery #2

Wilsie is survived by his two children, Ronney J. Picou and wife Kathy, Blanche Picou and Karl Doucet; 4 grandsons, Scott Picou and wife Caitlin, Dustin Doucet and fiancé Kaila Inman, Eric Picou; 4 great grandchildren, Spencer Theriot, Ruby, Henry and Eliza Picou.

Wilsie is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Louise Benoit Picou; grandsons, Michael and Dillan DeLong; parents, Wilsie Joseph, Sr. and Blanche Marie Picou Picou; brothers, Norman, Kirby, Reynold, and Anthony “Tony” Picou; sister, Mabel Picou Daigle.

Wilsie attended Holy Cross for several years before returning to Houma to graduate from Terrebonne High School. While at Holy Cross he developed a love of all sporting events. He wrestled for Brother Malcolm as an 8th grader on the Holy Cross varsity team then went on to play football for Coach Tom Smith at Terrebonne High as well as played basketball for Terrebonne High. Due to intense desire to attend all sporting events he would attend JV sports on Thursday, High School sports on Friday, college sports on Saturday and pro sports on Sunday. He was an avid Tulane Fan and only missed 6 ball games in 25 years. When Tulane Coach Perry Clark was asked about Tulane’s fan base he replied: “If there was a game in Folgemen Arena, Wilsie Picou was in the House!”

Wilsie worked as an oilfield salesman and opened Houma Tool House in 1962 which ran successfully for 50 years.

Wilsie was always a very charitable man an always saw that others had what they needed. He was a parishioner and founding member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers the family asks to make to donations to Boys Town.
