On December 22, 2025, William "Dickey" Hamner passed away peacefully at Terrebonne General Hospital.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Suzanne Guillory Hamner; his sons, Dr. John Blair Hamner (Holly), Joseph Hamner, and Matthew Hamner (Alisa); his daughter, Erin Hamner Bourgeois (Matt); and his nine cherished grandchildren: Patrick, Sophia, Gavin, Allison, Elaine, Violet, Ellie, Charlotte, and Ruby. He is also survived by his siblings, Mike Hamner (Robbin), Gordon Hamner, Alice Brien (Darryl), Kenny Hamner (Laurie), Clyde Hamner, and Catherine Guilbeau (Eddie), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Charles and Velma Hamner; his sister and brother-in-law, Gene and Mary André; his brother, David Hamner; and his sisters-in-law, Christine Ledet Hamner and Nancy Henry Hamner.
Born and raised in Houma, Louisiana, Dickey had a deep love for his hometown and the simple joys of life. He had a strong faith and found peace at St. Anthony Catholic Church He found happiness in tending his garden, spending time with his dog, and-most of all-being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His kindness, quiet strength, and devotion to family will be remembered always. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held on December 30, 2025, at St. Anthony Church in Bayou Black. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until Mass at 11:00 a.m., followed by the burial at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery #2.
