Sylvia Rita Theriot

Sylvia Rita Theriot, age 84, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025. She was a native of Donaldsonville, La and resident of Houma, La.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service for Sylvia on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at a later date. 

Sylvia is survived by her sisters, Janet Massey, Linda Collins (Eugene), Priscilla Luke (Kevin), Roberta Schulte; brother, Victor Theriot; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene J. Theriot, Sr. and Leona Tivet Theriot; sisters, Mary Authement, Earline Jackson, Patricia Grabert, Rebecca Gautreaux; brothers, Eugene Theriot, Jr., Francis Theriot, Philip Theriot.

She proudly served in the Army for seven years, a period that allowed her to travel extensively and experience the world.After her military service, Sylvia settled into a fulfilling career as a librarian at South Terrebonne High School, a position she held for 15 years. Her love for books and knowledge inspired countless students who came through her library doors.

In her personal life, Sylvia was known for her quiet and reserved demeanor, except when she was with her nieces and nephews, with whom she brought boundless joy and silliness. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and watching Hallmark movies, finding comfort in the little things.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, particularly her nieces and nephews, who loved their "Nanny" dearly.
