Stephen Dempsey

Stephen "Steve" Joel Dempsey, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Steve was a native of Houston TX, and a resident of Houma, LA.

Steve is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Aleta Davis Dempsey; his sons Thomas Lee Dempsey and Madison Clint Martin (Bess); daughters Jessica Lynn Dempsey and Mindy Martin Forehand (Chip); Grandchildren Cavanaugh James Martin and Kaylee Louise Forehand; Brothers Michael Dempsey and Glenn Dempsey.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents Oscar Lee Dempsey and Dorothy Polak Dempsey, and brothers Brian Dempsey and Christopher Dempsey.

Steve was humble and hardworking, spending his life doing good for others quietly, and never expecting anything in return. Ever the optimist, he was always ready with a joke or a simple one liner, guaranteed to put a smile on anyone's face. Steve exemplified the virtues of kindness, patience, and generosity, and he was happiest when everyone around him was happy. He was in love with his baby grandson, and the plans to spoil him were well underway. Steve's passing leaves a void in the lives of his wife, children, and grandchildren that can never be filled, but he will be remembered for his enduring legacy of love and kindness.

The family would like to thank his physician Dr. Jody Plaisance and Haydel Memorial Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
