Shirley Ann Chisolm Pontiff, age 77, a native of Olla, La., and resident of Houma, La., passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Shirley is survived by her children, Amy Kraemer (Brandon Guidry), Linnie Welch (Stephen) and Mary Bergeron (Dean); her grandchildren, Jordan Boudreaux, Kenny Kraemer, Keith Kraemer, Douglas Ford, Justin Ford, Stephen Ford, Donna Loupe, Ross Lecompte, Skylar Guidry and Brandon Guidry II; and eight great-grandchildren; her siblings, Barbara Duff and Sammy Chisolm (Debbie); sister-in-law, Jenny Chisolm; and her beloved dog, Ginger.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Pontiff; her parents, Sam Chisolm andMary Cloud Chisolm; her brother, Charles A. Chisolm; and her in-laws, Lance and Laura Brien.
Those who knew Shirley will remember her sweet laugh, her precious smile, her generosity, and her unconditional love for anyone and everyone. She was a beautiful soul with an old-school heart who valued her family and loved them dearly. Shirley was as humble as they come, always putting others before herself and offering kindness without expecting anything in return. Her lovely warmth, compassion, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but remembered forever.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Shirley on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Chauvin Funeral Home in Chapel Dauphine beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Shirley will be laid to rest in Terrebonne Memorial Park.
Shirley Ann will live on through the memories she created and the love she shared. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her beautiful spirit will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
