Shirley Voisin DeHart

September 22, 1937 — February 22, 2023

Shirley Ann Voisin DeHart, 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 8:24am. Shirley was a native of Dularge, LA and a resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 5:00pm until 900pm. Visitation will continue at Annunziata Catholic Church in Houma, LA on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 9:00am until service time.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin following Tuesday visitation at Annunziata Church at 11:00am with Christian Burial taking place in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

Shirley is survived by her loving family; her husband of sixty-eight years; Magnus DeHart Sr.; her children, Patty DeHart Cunningham and husband Kenneth; Faron DeHart and wife Donna, Pamelia DeHart Fowler and husband Kenneth, Rory DeHart and wife Lynn, Shirley “Turtle” DeHart Fabre and husband Jerome; daughter-in-law, Debra DeHart Farrell; siblings, Laura Duplantis, Gary Voisin, Diane Fanguy, Emily Bascle, Sharon Dupre, Harriet LeBouef; grandchildren, Torrell DeHart Hebert and husband Heath, Amber DeHart Brown and husband Edward Brown, Matthew Fowler, Jennifer DeHart, Ashley DeHart, Kelsey Fowler Scariano and husband Paul, Sadie DeHart, Joshua Fabre, Jade Fabre; great- grandchildren, Brooke, Bryce, Myles, Kingston, Kinzlee, Abigail, Evalynn, Edward, Eamonn, Anne, Edith, Savannah, Arabella, and Paul Jr. Shirley also leaves behind many loving godchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Shirley is preceded in passing by her parents, Eddie Voisin Sr. and Emily Authement Voisin; son, Magnus “Buck” Charles DeHart Jr., siblings, Rosemary Boudwin, Eddie    “T-Boy” Voisin Jr., Barbara Neal;  great grand-daughter, Madilynn Stroud; and           great-grandson, Jude DeHart.

Shirley worked for twenty-two years in the Terrebonne Parish School system as a cafeteria worker and manager for Grand Caillou Elementary School, Oaklawn and Terrebonne High School. Shirley was very compassionate about feeding children; and no child, grandchild, or family left her cafeteria or home hungry.

Shirley had a passion and love for sewing. She was a true seamstress and would create beautiful clothing by sight alone including many wedding dresses.

The family would like to thank her many caregivers who assisted Shirley and family over the past two and a half years.

Shirley will be remembered and never forgotten. She was loved by all her family and many friends she has met through her lifetime.
