Shirley Guidry Cenac, 87, a native and resident of Houma, LA, passed away on August 13, 2026, at Trustwell Living-Terrebonne Place with her loving family and hospice near her side.

Shirley is survived by her son, Troy Andrew Cenac of Tyler, TX; daughter, Tara Cenac Rogers; son-in-law, David Rogers; and granddaughter Hannah Rogers, all of Cumming, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Diana G. Juneau of Mansura, LA; sister-in-law, Bonnie B. Cenac of Houma, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Albert Cenac Sr.; son, Thomas A. Cenac Jr.; parents, Alvin Joseph Guidry and Effie Lorina Blanchard Guidry; brother, Russel P. Guidry; sister, Eula Mae Guidry; sisters-in-law, Jerry Lynn Drott Guidry and Betty Lecompte Guidry; brothers-in-law, John K. Juneau and Alphonse J. Cenac Jr.

Mom was always up for a fun time. She loved doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, eating out, and spending time with family and friends. After graduating from St. Francis de Sales Girls High School in 1957, she worked for the Houma Courier and was also a former member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians women’s Mardi Gras club. She joined the latch hooking craze of the late ‘70s/early ‘80s creating many beautiful rugs depicting landscapes, animals, and floral samples that were framed and proudly displayed on the walls at home. She loved to entertain and would host weekly card playing parties at home…a tradition she continued even after moving to Trustwell Living – Terrebonne Place. As a diehard fan of the New Orleans Saints, Sunday afternoons during football season were always reserved for watching the big game often with the Guidry/Juneau side of the family packed at her parents’ house on Liberty St. Good food and good times!

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Trustwell Living – Terrebonne Place and to St. Joseph Hospice. Special thanks to first cousins: Virdie Breaux, Karen Detillier, and Carleen Veronie for routinely checking up on mom. Your compassion and support allowed mom to continue living in Houma following her wishes.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date through Chauvin Funeral Home.
