With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Russell Joseph Boquet, age 85, born in Bourg, LA and a resident of Bourg for his entire life. He left this world peacefully on July 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 18, 1941, Russell built a life anchored in family, dedication and community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and loyal friend who left an unmistakable mark on everyone who knew him. Russell will be remembered for his strong work ethic. He dedicated much of his life to his work in the oilfield, where he sacrificed 49 years of his life providing for his family before retiring. At 18 years old he started as a yard hand and worked diligently to reach a managerial position. Throughout the years, he made many lifelong friends and built a comradery with a multitude of coworkers. He was a faithful member of the Bourg Lions Club for 50 years, proudly serving as president for 4 of those years. He was also a lifelong parishioner of St. Ann Catholic church. He was especially passionate about farming, fishing, camping, duck calling, duck carving and his prized blackberries and pecan trees. He could often be found cracking pecans or juicing mandarins from his homegrown trees.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Karin Ellender Boquet, his doting children, Shawn Boquet, Russell Jr. (Kellie), Bridgette John (Carol) and Tina Arcement (Ronny); his 9 remarkable grandchildren, Brandon Boquet (Casey), Brent Boquet (Jana), Britney Baylor, Lauren Valencia (Mikey), Dakota Dagenhardt, Hunter Dagenhardt, Paige Arcement, Houston Boquet, and Grace Arcement; his 8 wonderful great grandchildren, Gabby Boquet, Cameron Trigg, Landon Grabert, Cooper Boquet, Kenner Boquet, Bree Boquet, Lucy Boquet and James Russell Boquet; his 3 siblings, Kathleen Barber, Deborah Falgout, and Carmen "Moe" Boquet; and his caregiver of 5 years, Debbie Ortego Sadler, whom he adored and who became part of the family because of her undying devotion to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carmen "Tick" Boquet and Helen "Ann" Pellegrin Boquet; his 4 siblings, Michael Boquet, Carlene Ledet (Harris), Jean Foret (Abby), and Donna Boquet.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Russel on Monday, July 13, 2026, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg, beginning at 9:00a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00a.m. Russell will be laid to rest in St. Ann Catholic Cemetery.
