It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosemary “Rosie” Whitney, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on September 16, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on February 18, 1929, in Westwego, LA, Rosie lived a life full of love and laughter.
To cherish Rosie’s memories are her beloved children; James Whitney, Jr. (Mona), John Whitney (Kathie), Jeffrey Whitney and Beth Hebert (Mark), her cherished grandchildren; James Whitney, III, Matthew Whitney, Monica Camille, Hunter Whitney, Mike Kreller, II, Jennifer Singleton, Kasie Hodson and Corey Whitney as well as numerous great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Rosie is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband of 60 years, James Whitney, Sr., her daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Kreller as well as her grandson’s; Jesse Hebert and Jeremy Whitney.
Rosie created a warm and loving atmosphere for her family. She had a passion for painting, loved to fish, and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Known for her wonderful sense of humor, she brightened the lives of everyone around her, often bringing smiles through her jokes and cherished stories.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Chauvin Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow beginning at 10:30 with Fr. Jim Morrison officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
