Ricky James Neil

Ricky James Neil, age 71, a native and resident of Chauvin, LA., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 9:30a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. Burial will follow Mass in the church cemetery.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years Jeannie Lapeyrouse Neil, son Rick Neil and wife, Brandi; daughters, Darla Callahan and husband, Jeremey and Lacey Griffin and husband, Richie; grandchildren, Kobe Neil, Reid Neil and Brady Neil, mother Clara Hebert Neil and siblings, Vicky Neil (Barry), Sheila Martin (Druis) and Kevin Neil (Ramona).

Ricky was preceded in passing by his father, Roosevelt (Kie) Neil; father-in-law, Nolan Lapeyrouse, mother-in-law, Viona Lapeyrouse and his sister-in-law Myra Henry.

Ricky loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids. He loved anything to do with tools and mechanic work. He enjoyed being able to help others when he could.

He was a loyal and dedicated employee at Gulf Island Fabricators for over 37 years and was currently still working full time. He made countless friends throughout those years including his shop cat Tom.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Big Al’s restaurant. Especially Don Crowdus who helped administer CPR until the EMT responders arrived on site.

Ricky Neil will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him for his outgoing personality, love for his family and willingness to help others.
