Richard F Mills

Richard Fred Mills, 74, a native of Atlanta, Tx. and resident of Houma, La., passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Chauvin Funeral Home in Magnolia Chapel from 9AM until his Celebration of Life at 11Am. Burial will follow in St. Francis #2 Cemetery.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helen Mills; children, Melanie Mills, Rebecca Mills Bradford (Michael); and grandchildren, Christopher and Hannah Bradford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Bessie Lee Richards Mills; siblings, Robert Mills of Texarkana and companion, Sherman Broglin, William “Billy” Mills, and Wanda Mills Doiron; niece, Robyn Doiron; and granddaughter, Besse Meryl Mills.

A loving and caring father, Richard always made time for his family. Richard was a very passionate teacher and coach who touched the lives of so many during the years of his career. He started out coaching Bantam League Football and carried through his passion for sports by uniting two schools and becoming the first Athletic Director at Lacache and Montegut Middle Schools. Richard was a vibrant and vivacious soul who brought happiness and laughter to all who had the honor to know and love him. Although, sports were his first love, he spent 40 successful years working in the oil and petroleum industry.

Richard’s memory will live on through the legacy he built during his 74 years. He will be deeply and dearly missed by all.
