Richard Michael Foret Sr., a beloved husband and dedicated father, passed away on March 22, 2026. Born on February 3, 1954, Richard left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him.

Richard shared a beautiful partnership with his devoted wife, Robin, with whom he enjoyed 22 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and countless cherished memories.

Richard was known for his unwavering work ethic as a fitter in the oilfield industry. His diligence and commitment to excellence in his trade earned him respect among his colleagues and peers. Outside of work, Richard loved every moment spent fishing on his boat and enjoyed unwinding during trips to the casino.

Richard also cultivated a vibrant vegetable garden at his home that blossomed with okra, satsumas, lemons, cucumbers, and tomatoes. However, he was best known for his love of Foret tradition swamp pop. He could often be found on the dance floor at family gatherings, smiling and moving to the rhythm with a Budweiser in hand.

Richard is survived by his wife, Robin Terrebonne Foret; his son Richard Foret Jr.; his daughters Brandy Foret Billiot (Waylon), Dawn Pitre (Kevin), Tara New (Dwayne), and Ashley Campagne (Dale); his brothers Tommy Foret (Sally), Douglas Foret (Meca), and Randy Foret; his sisters Susan Dennis (Farley) and Brenda Sons (Mike); 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Paul Dewey Foret and Mary Ann “Mae Mae” Foret; his stepfather T-Charles LeBlanc; and his brothers Paul “T-June” Foret and John “Rene” Foret. 

In honor of Richard’s remarkable life, a public visitation will be held at Chauvin Funeral Home’s Magnolia Chapel on Friday, March 27, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

Those fortunate enough to be in Richard’s life always knew just how much they meant to him. As we celebrate his dedication to his family and life’s work, he will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
