Renda Marie Champagne Theriot

Renda Marie Champagne Theriot was born on August 9, 1935 in Theriot, Louisiana, and peacefully departed this life on April 12, 2026 in Houma, Louisiana.

As a devoted homemaker for most of her life, Renda poured her heart and soul into her family. She was married to the love of her life, E.J. Theriot Jr. (deceased), for 55 years and their bond was a beautiful testament to enduring love and mutual respect.

She is survived by her daughters Elvera Ann T. Kinkle (Johnny) and Kathy T. Dugas (Scott); her sons Robert J. Theriot Sr. (Patrice), E.J. Theriot (Sandy), and Dale P. Theriot (Christine); her brother Norman Champagne (Akiko Ann); her sister Evelyn C. Billiot (Clarence); 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Renda's kind spirit and assertive nature shaped her family, instilling values that will continue through generations.

In her younger years, Renda was an active member of St. Eloi Catholic Church, where she served in various leadership roles for social groups. Her contributions to the St. Eloi K.C. Ladies Auxiliary, TOPS, and the Terrebonne Garden Club reflected her vibrant community spirit. Renda was also a member of a local card group known affectionately as "The Cacklin' Hens," where laughter and camaraderie flourished weekly.

An avid reader, Renda found refuge in the pages of a good book, but also enjoyed traveling with her family, bus trips hosted by the YMCA, and cruises. She was passionate about gardening and flowers her entire life, especially when she shared that joy with her husband, Jay, in his retirement years.

Renda was preceded in death by her husband Emelina Joseph Theriot Jr. (Jay); her parents O'Neil A. Champagne and Elvida Dupre Champagne; her brothers Randolph Champagne, Curtis Champagne (Emily), Gary Champagne (Robitah), Glenn Champagne, and O'Neil Champagne; her sisters Brunella Champagne, Gwendolyn C. DeHart (Willard), and Joy Champagne; her son O'Neil T. Theriot Sr. (Sandra); her daughter Lisa T. Rome (E.J.); her grandchildren Abbey C. Theriot and Zachary J. Theriot; and her great-grandchild Sarah K. Lemoine.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a public visitation at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Theriot, Louisiana on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass commencing at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow within St. Eloi Catholic Church Cemetery.
