Rebecca Gail Mire, lovingly known as Gail, of Houma, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by her family.
She was an amazing artist who found joy in painting and learning about art. She loved traveling to beautiful places and using what she saw as inspiration for her work. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved deeply.
She was a graduate of Terrebonne High School and Louisiana Tech University. Gail worked for many years as a medical technologist at Chabert Medical Center, where she eventually retired. While working there, she went back to school and earned her Master's degree in Hospital Administration from Southern University.
Gail had a strong Catholic faith that guided her throughout her life and brought her great comfort and peace.
She is survived by her daughters Dana Lirette, Lauren Haydel (Patrick) and Aimee Abbott (Nate); her grandchildren Jackson, Parker, Harper and Morgan; her sister Jeri Thompson (Mitch); her nephews Ben and Patrick; and her nieces, Lina Hollis and Andrea Benavides. She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Joseph Moore; sister Connie Moore; and niece Michelle Thompson.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on February 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Catholic Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Burial will follow at St. Francis #2 Cemetery.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
