Ralta "Relta" Francis Lirette

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ralta Francis Lirette, who passed away on September 12, 2025.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at St. St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Houma, LA from 9:00am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church at 11:00am with burial taking place in St. Eloi Cemetery in Theriot, LA.

Ralta, lovingly known as Relt or Yettie to her family and friends, was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. As a young girl, she embraced life with warmth and compassion, traits that stayed with her throughout her years. Ralta also carried a deep love for her younger siblings, stepping into the role of caretaker early in her life. She was blessed with three children of her own and they became her world.

Ralta was a gentle, loving person who would cheerfully take on any task needed. Whether it was organizing a wedding or sewing a prom dress, lending a helping hand to others in the community was something she loved to do. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Becoming a grandmother was one of Ralta's most cherished roles. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds, and she embraced this chapter of her life with joy and devotion. Her role as "G" extended far beyond her own family, touching the lives of many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Ralta is survived by children: John Lirette (Angelle), Marcia Lirette, and Barry Lirette Jr., grandchildren: Blake Lirette (Lindsy), Shelby Schilling (Benjamin), and Chloe Sedotal, great-grandchildren Savannah Lirette, Brennan Lirette, and Holden Schilling, brothers: Randolph Francis (Brenda), Delvin Francis (Angela), Ray Francis (Dana), Ted Francis (Rochelle) sisters: Debra Liner (Gabriel), Connie Guidry (Lloyd), Penny Francis, Sylvia Francis, Terrie Ann Francis (Kevin Lirette), Jill Cooper (Casey)

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Barry Lirette Sr., her mother Mary Pearly Smith Francis, her father Antoine "Tee" Francis, father-in-law Johnny Lirette, mother-in-law Hilda Lirette and nephews: Ryan Francis, Chase Francis and Dallas Mize

In recent years, Ralta had to overcome many health conditions. Her children were by her side, providing unwavering support through the difficult times.

Ralta was blessed and grateful to have her daughter Marcia, who was the most loving and generous caretaker.

The family would like to thank all those who visited and helped in her care.

Ralta was deeply loved by her family and by countless friends who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
