Ophelia Hebert Moore, a cherished mother and devoted homemaker, transitioned peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ at sunrise on August 10, 2026 at the age of 94; surrounded by her loving family in her hometown of Houma, Louisiana. Born on January 5, 1932, Ophelia filled her years with an unwavering love for her family; which was the heart and soul of her existence.

Ophelia is survived by her children, Tommy Moore and wife Emily, Timothy "Timmy" Moore and wife Amy, Sandra Zeringue and husband Kirk, Debbie Martinez and husband David, Cynthia Bertinot and husband Harvey; grandchildren, Jarrod Moore, Megan Pellegrin, Jason Moore, Trisha Authement, Ryan and Ross Zeringue, Dustin, Danielle, and Derrick Martinez, Meagan Fonseca, and Madison Bertinot; great-grandchildren, Preston and Gavin Moore, Ella and Eva Pellegrin, Kaitlin Chambers, Jasmine Moore, Hunter Authement, Josiah, Cullen and Declan Zeringue, Jackson and Ellie Martinez and Paisley Bougeois, Johnny and Grace Fonseca; 5th generation great-great grandchildren, Roman and Elias Chambers; brothers, Michael Hebert, Andrew Hebert, Jr.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Royce Moore, who she shared a deep bond with her husband of 66 years. They are now joyfully reunited in Heaven, embracing each other with the love that defined their many years together. She is also preceded by her parents, Andrew and Clevia Hebert; great grandchild, Elliott Zeringue; brothers, Cleveland and Lloyd Hebert Sr.; and sister, Mary Ann Champagne.


She was a loving and kind soul who touched the hearts of everyone around her. She was one strong fighter, and we lovingly called her our "comeback queen" because she never gave up. Through every challenge she continued to show strength and courage. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; including playing cards with family and friends, gambling at the casino, tending to her plants, and sewing. She had a special way of making memories where ever she went. Cooking was one of the ways she showed her love, always spoiling her family with her food that was made from her heart. Above all, she loved her family deeply and cherished every moment she shared with them. Her love, strength, and beautiful spirit will be missed more than words can express. Her commitment to her faith was evident as a devoted parishioner as a member of the Ladies Altar Society at Annunziata Catholic Church, where she nurtured a love for her Lord and Savior that inspired those around her. Ophelia's striking beauty, warm personality, and radiant smile brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, August 15, 2026; beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In this time of mourning, we also celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman whose spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear.
