Nicholas Ian Clay

Nicholas Ian Clay ("Ian"), age 35, left this world far too soon, carrying with him a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and a heart that fiercely protected the people he loved.

Known for his wicked sense of humor and quick wit, Ian had a way of brightening any room he walked into. He was dedicated to bodybuilding, but his greatest passion was slow-pitch men's softball, where he thrived on the camaraderie of teammates and the pure joy of the game.

Ian also had a deep love for the outdoors. Rock climbing, hiking, and exploring Tunica Hills with his beloved dogs were among his happiest moments. His compassion for animals was unwavering, leading him to rescue and care for many, and to proudly support Rescue Rehome Repeat of South Louisiana.

Ian is survived by his sister, Aaren Clay (Wayne Vermeire); his mother, Kimberly Eubanks (Sloan); his father, Timothy Clay; his grandmother, Arlene Clay; his aunt, Barbara Hogenstad (Lawrence); his uncle, Pat Clay; cousins Jon Hogenstad (Terry) and Rachel Hogenstad (Mark); and numerous other cousins and loved ones. He is also survived by his softball tournament teammates, who were among his closest friends and a second family to him.

The family will honor Ian in their own private ways, and no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rescue Rehome Repeat (RRR) or to the Lafourche Animal Society (LASI), organizations chosen to honor Ian's deep love of animals.

RRR donations may be made by check payable to Rescue Rehome Repeat of South Louisiana and mailed to PO Box 500, Walker, LA.

LASI donations may be sent via Venmo to @Lafourche-Animals.
