Melvin “Micky” Duplantis, Sr., a native of Chauvin and resident of Bourg, LA passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
The family would like to invite those who knew Micky to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 6, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Micky is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Norma Jane Stevens Duplantis; his sons, Melvin Duplantis, Jr. (Nancy) and Ken Duplantis (Theresa); his daughters, Dawn Blanchard (Perry) and Julie Piazza (Kevin); his son-in-law, Todd Price; his grandchildren, Kyle Blanchard (Ashley), Jessica Lapeyrouse (Jeff), Keri Bullock (Derek), Melanie Bueche (Jeff), Kevin Piazza (Kirbie), Ian Duplantis (Amber), Hudson Duplantis, Britain Duplantis, Mary Blanchard (Hunter), Ryder Alston and Chris Yesso; 14 great-grandchildren and two on the way; and his numerous nieces, nephews and a host of loving neighbors.
Micky was preceded in death by his parents, Delvin J. Duplantis, Sr. and Thelma Dumez Duplantis; his daughter, Mary Beth D. Price; his brothers, Lloyd Duplantis Sr. and his twin brother, Delvin “Dicky” Duplantis; his sisters, Imelda Pellegrin and Wylma Dusenbery.
Micky was a devoted husband and a loving father to his children. He was employed by Texaco for almost 38 years and retired at the age of 55. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He loved to trawl, fish, tend to his garden and cut his grass. He was a very giving and generous person always, giving seafood, vegetables, blackberry jelly, pepper jelly and pecan gralle’ to his family, friends and neighbors. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
