Matthew J Blanchard

Matthew Blanchard, age 51, a native and resident of Houma, La., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Matthew on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Chauvin Funeral Home, in Magnolia Chapel, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Chauvin Funeral Home, in Magnolia Chapel, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

Matthew is survived by his sons: Spencer Blanchard (Allison), Jayce Blanchard (Jordan), and Eli Blanchard; his sisters: Jenny DeRoche (Jeff) and Amanda Domingue (Eddie); his nephews: Dylan Domingue, Jeffery, Justin, and Jordan DeRoche, and Austin Triche; and his nieces: Jenaye DeRoche, Allyson Domingue, Amber, and Anna Triche.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Theral "Sonny" Blanchard and Iona Liner Blanchard; his maternal grandparents, Hazel and Alcide Liner; and his paternal grandparents, Appoline and Theodore Blanchard.

Matthew was a loving father, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know him. He had the biggest heart and the loudest laugh. He never took life too seriously and encouraged others to do the same. He was equally as strong willed as he was loving. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his boys. On his free nights, you could find him winning a poker game surrounded by friends. Throughout his many years of teaching, he had a profound impact on countless lives. His positive outlook on life inspired everyone around him to see the good in every situation.
