Obituary

Mary Leona Solet Creppel was born on November 16, 1947, and passed away on October 12, 2026. She was a native and resident of Grand Caillou.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Carlton Creppel; her six children, Carl Creppel (Rebecca), Laura Fazzio (Dale), Carey Dean, Christine Creppel, Cheri Dupre (Ryan), and Crystal Billiot (Randall); 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Enest Solet and Ophelia Wilson Solet; all of her siblings; her grandson, Anthony Verdin; and her son-in-law, Glynn Dean.

Mary was a woman of faith with a feisty spirit and a loving heart. She loved cooking for her children and grandchildren, bringing her family together around meals made with love. She loved going to the casino with her husband, children, and grandchildren, cherishing the laughter, excitement, and time they shared together. She never met a stranger and opened her home to everyone. Her love, strength, and welcoming spirit will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. Visitation will continue Monday, October 19, 2026, at Holy Rosary Church beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank everyone who cared for her during her illness, as well as Chauvin Funeral Home, for their care and support. A special thank-you goes to her granddaughters, Kristy, Brittany, and Sierra, for taking the absolute best care of her and surrounding her with love and comfort.

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
