Mary Ann Boudreaux, a native of Houma and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on December 27, 1944, Mary Ann dedicated her life to family, faith, and service to others. She devoted more than 37 years to education as a classroom teacher, shaping generations of students through her commitment, compassion, and love of learning. Teaching was not simply her profession, but her calling, and she took great pride in the many lives she influenced throughout her career.
Mary Ann was highly involved in the supervising teacher program for Nicholls State University, where she earned her Master's Degree plus 30. She was an active member of TVFC, the Literary Club of Terrebonne Parish, and the Garden Club of Thibodaux, among many other civic organizations throughout her life.
In 2000, she was honored as Inspirational Teacher of the Year by the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence. She was also deeply involved in Mardi Gras traditions, serving as a Maid on the Krewe of Hyacinthians Royal Court in 2000 and later reigning as Queen Hyacinth LVIII in 2009 alongside her husband, King Larry Boudreaux.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she will be remembered for the love and values she instilled in those closest to her. Mary Ann always wanted people to feel good about being in her home. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and her house was lovingly filled with Christmas trees in every room.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Connelly Chauvin and Theresa Champagne; her former husband, Albert Martin; and her sisters, Mollie Boudreaux and Belle Matherne.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Boudreaux; her sons, Matthew Martin and Marc Martin (Lauren), and their children, Gabriel and Ayla; her sister, Gloria Porche; her brothers, James Chauvin (Gerry) and Paul Chauvin (Cindy); her brothers-in-law, Achille Boudreaux and Donald Boudreaux (Janet); her stepdaughter, Becky Naquin (Nolan), and their children, Parker Naquin (Sydni), Brooke Naquin, Caroline Naquin, and Claire Naquin, and step-great-grandchildren Spencer and Bennie Naquin; and her stepsons, Rick Boudreaux (Garield) and Jonathan Boudreaux, and his children, Kaitlyn and Jackson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
The family is deeply grateful for the care and compassion shown to Mary Ann in her final months by her caregivers: Nicole Daggs, Clara Thomas, Shonda Ross, and Ashara Stevenson.
Public visitation will be held at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma, Louisiana, on December 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Saint Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations supporting causes Mary Ann cherished: Autism Society Bayou, supporting families affected by autism, or the Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence.
