Lucille Rose Hode Himel, age 87, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. She was a native of Washington and a resident of Houma, LA.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. with burial following in St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Denise Lucille Himel; grandchildren, Michael J. Kimble, Jr., and Caroline L. Kimble; nieces and nephew, Glenda S. Atterbery and husband, Ted, Stuart Schreiber and wife, Mimi, Renee S. Crackel and husband, Jeff, Helene Grant, Thomas Schreiber, Eddie J. Himel, Jr., Thomas Himel, and Jerry Daigle.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Joseph Himel, Jr.; parents, Deonie Joseph and Magnolia Roselia Ladner Hode; sisters, Delane H. Stephens and husband, Aaron, and Mary Geraldine Schreiber.
Lucille was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. She was a graduate of The Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Learning (University of Louisiana at Lafayette). She was a retired teacher for the Terrebonne Parish School Board for 28 years. She was a member of Terrebonne Parish Literary Club, Terrebonne Garden Club and Camilla Society, Kappa Kappa Iota professional teacher organization, Terrebonne Volunteers for Family and Community Burkwall Club, and Terrebonne Retired Teacher Association. Lucille enjoyed gardening, reading, raising orchids, and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving teacher and touched many lives though out her career.
