It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leland Joseph Pete, age 85, who departed this life on September 10, 2026.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 10:00 AM until service time at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Leland is survived by his children, Todd Pete (Ann), Tessie Pete (Rusty), Toby Pete (Tracy); grandchildren, Alyssa Roberts, Tea Roberts, Lanie Sapia, Penelope Pete, Elsie Pete; brothers, Eugene Pete, Tim Pete (Diane).

Leland is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Crochet Pete; parents, Ira Joseph Pete and Quida Collins Pete.

Leland proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later in the Unites States Army Reserve, where he retired with the rank of Sergeant Major He also served his community, dedicating many years to ensuring safety and security as a hospital police officer at Chabert Medical Center, where his contributions were greatly valued.

In addition to his professional achievements, Leland was a man of simple pleasures. He cherished his time spent at the casino and enjoyed watching old westerns on television. An avid sports fan, he passionately supported teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, and New Orleans Saints.

The family would like to send thanks to his caregivers, Sara Pierre, Sue DeHart, Michelle Pierre; nurses, Sean Cunningham and Danielle Bergeron.

The family would also like to send a special thanks to his best friend, podnah, and army veteran comrade, Donald Webre.

Leland's memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace.
