Lake Michael Hornsby

Lake Michael Hornsby, a beacon of love and inspiration, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the tender age of 22. Born on August 26, 2003, in Houma, Louisiana, Lake graced the world with his courageous spirit and gentle presence, illuminating the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. Residing in Bourg, Louisiana, he thrived despite numerous health challenges, embodying resilience and grace throughout his journey.

Though Lake faced significant obstacles, his indomitable spirit shone through illuminating smiles and heartfelt moments spent with loved ones. He communicated not with words, but with an unparalleled capacity for love that spoke volumes, leaving an everlasting impact on those fortunate enough to witness his beautiful soul. Lake's parents, Daryl Hornsby and Chantel Kiger, were true soldiers, tirelessly devoted to nurturing and caring for their only son, with unwavering affection that blossomed into a profound bond.

Lake's life, though filled with challenges, became a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit. He possessed an extraordinary ability to inspire, reminding us all of the importance of compassion, loyalty, and family. His grandfather Stephen Hornsby; grandparents Roy Kiger Jr. and Denise Kiger; uncles, Dwayne Hornsby (Dawn) and Roy Kiger III (Alex); numerous great-aunts and great-uncles, including Michael Lefort and Glenn Lefort (Robin); cousins Rebecca Brister-King, Athena Kiger, and Marissa Hornsby; countless relatives and friends, will forever cherish the moments shared with Lake, celebrating his life and the love he effortlessly radiated.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Catherine Hornsby; his great grandma Thelma Lefort; as well as other great-grandparents.

As we gather to honor Lake's memory, we invite family and friends to join in a heartfelt farewell. A public viewing will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church on January 6, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. We will come together to celebrate the joy and warmth Lake brought into our lives, reflecting on the cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts. Lake will be laid to rest in a ceremony immediately following the service at the church cemetery.
