Judith Ann Hebert Duhon

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Ann Hebert Duhon, a compassionate and loving soul who left this world on her 79th birthday, February 11, 2024.

In commemoration of Judy's remarkable life, a visitation will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, beginning at 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg.

Following the ceremony, Judy will be laid to rest in a peaceful burial at St. Ann Cemetery, surrounded by generations of family members gone before. Her legacy of love, laughter, and a life fully lived will radiate forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Judy is survived by her husband, Wayne Duhon; daughter, Raquel Brown and husband Gordon; son, Sidney Duhon and wife Mickey; grandchildren, Laughlin and Kirkland Grace, Alexandra Duhon and Meaghan Dumesnil; great-grandchildren, Channing Bonvillain and Madelyn Young; sisters, Beryl Trahan and husband Bobby; Barbara Foret and husband Butch.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Eldred A. Hebert, Sr. and Anna Mae Pye Hebert; brother, Eldred A. Hebert, Jr.

Born on February 11, 1945, in Houma, Louisiana, Judy emitted a wild and daring spirit while growing up in the warm embrace of her family and friends. It was this vibrant spirit that earned Judy nicknames just as unique as her, including Judy Pitt and her infamous title of Muffin.

Judy graduated from high school and embarked on a fulfilling journey as a homemaker and wife where she was married for 57 incredible years to her loving husband Wayne. Judy cherished their union and dedicated herself completely to creating a loving and nurturing home for her family. That nurturing heart extended beyond the bonds of her natural family to encompass all she encountered. Judy truly never knew a stranger. She relished the joys of a simple conversation, whether it was on her back porch at home or the aisles of a grocery store, and cast her bright, ever-glowing spirit on each person she met.

Judy had a natural flair for the arts and possessed many creative talents. As a seamstress, she crafted beautiful outfits with precise skill. As an artist, she delighted in painting scenes that captured the beauty of nature and arranging breathtaking bouquets of flowers that brought life and vibrancy. As an avid reader, she immersed herself in captivating narratives that enriched her imagination and own storytelling skills.

Judy was the embodiment of a vibrant life lived to the fullest. She was the most alive whenever she was making someone laugh, usually from her endless supply of jokes she stocked up over the years. She had a special fondness for yellow roses, which symbolized her vibrant and radiant spirit, and always delighted in the splendor of music and dance during Mardi Gras festivities.

Above all, Judy was the embodiment of unconditional love and an unmatched zeal for life. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she prioritized her family above all else. Her nurturing and caring nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of her children, Raquel and Sidney, and all of her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Judy's memory to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. Thank you to all the doctors and caregivers who tended to Judy in her final stage of life.

The world has lost a remarkable soul, but Heaven has gained an unmatched saint. Judith Ann Hebert Duhon will be dearly missed, but her shining smile, lasting laughter, and abounding love will live on in the hearts of her most beloved. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
