Juanita Rhodes

Juanita Bonvillain Rhodes, 89, a native and resident of Houma, LA; passed away on December 29, 2025.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, January 5, 2026 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church from 9:00 am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:00am with burial taking place in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. 

Juanita is survived by her loving family; her children, Monica Hays, Brian Rhodes (Mary), Leslie "Les" Rhodes ( Jacqueline "Jackie"), Melanie Leaumont (Drew); grandchildren; Sarah Bergeron (Francis), Jacquelyn Hays (Heather), Kelly Rhodes, Leigh Rhodes (Donna), Rachel Whitacre (Adam), Michelle Rhodes (fiance Jayson Smith), Danielle Pinho (Chris), Michael Leaumont (Traci), Julia Leaumont, Kathryn Leaumont; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Hays, Lennon Rhodes, Luke Whitacre, and Megan Whitacre. 

Juanita is preceded in passing by her loving husband, Joseph Davidson Rhodes "J.D."; parents, Joseph Bonvillain and Lillian Hebert Bonvillain; grandchild, Nicole Hays and son-in law Quentin "Jack" Hays.

Juanita was an active member of the St. Bernadette Community since it's inception in 1958. She assisted the church as a Eucharistic Minister, was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and provided many others ministerial functions. She will be greatly missed by all her family, church friends, and others that she befriended during her life. 

The family would like to thank Millie George and co-caregivers for their special care and attention given to Juanita and family during her lengthy illness.
