Joseph Elwyn Watson, 62, a native of Houston, TX and resident of Youngsville, LA passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 9:46pm.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut, LA from 9:00am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00am with burial following Mass in the church cemetery.

Joseph is survived by his loving family; his loving wife of forty-two years, Jeannie Watson; daughters, Beth Watson (Greg Meads) and Hilary Watson (Barry Bergeron Jr.) and granddaughter, Scarlett Bergeron; brother, Matthew Watson (Kim Watson), step-mother, Betty Watson. Joseph is also survived by many loving cousins, nephews and aunts and uncles.

Joseph is preceded in passing by his parents; his father, Harold Watson and mother, Priscilla Rousseau; his loving paternal and maternal grandparents.

Joseph was a very loving and hardworking man. He loved to travel and experience new things, including the finer things of life. He was a role model to many who knew him and was always open to giving advice. He had a love for sports; especially for football and golf, and enjoyed spending time with family especially for the holidays.

He put his heart and soul into his career which began at Rouses Supermarkets, beginning as a stocker and working his way up to become the Director of Produce at Rouses for over ten years. His passion for the produce industry lead him to his current role as Vice President of Retail for IFPA (International Fresh Produce Association). He cared about the community and growth of Youngsville, and his leadership brought him to be elected into the Chamber of Commerce. Over the many years in his career he met many friends who quickly turned into family.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the many physicians who cared during his cancer journey; especially Dr. Jacob Breaux, Dr. Philippe Prouet, Dr. Bradley Champagne, Dr. Scott Neusetzer, and Dr. Tsuyoshi Konishi. Also Hospice of Acadiana for all their compassion and care during his last days.
