Joseph Anthony Talamo passed away on September 19, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and lasting friendships. A proud Louisiana native, Joseph found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He spent countless hours deer hunting and fishing, activities that brought him peace and allowed him to share many memorable moments with family and friends.

Joseph is survived by his step-daughters, Mandy Songe Poche (Jeremy) and Greta Songe; grandchildren, James "Jim" Talamo, Emmett Martinek, Raphael "Rafe" Poche, and Kylie Poche; his siblings, Leroy Talamo and Camilla Overby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in passing by his son, Chadwick Talamo; his wife, Diana Songe Talamo; his parents, Anthony and Lena Talamo; his siblings, Patricia Martin (Brian) and Annie Knobloch (James); sister-in-law, Darlene Talamo, and brother-in-law, Robert Overby.

Joseph was proud to have served his country as a member of the Louisiana National Guard, demonstrating a spirit of dedication and service that remained with him throughout his life. He was also known for his love of Mardi Gras and enjoyed participating in local parades, including Terreanians and Titans, where he celebrated the traditions and community spirit that make South Louisiana so special.

A faithful Catholic, Joseph attended St. Bernadette Catholic Church, where his faith provided guidance, strength, and comfort throughout his life. He will be remembered for his love of family, his devotion to his community, and the many friendships he formed along the way.

Joseph enjoyed gardening and cooking, always taking pride in creating something beautiful or sharing a good meal with those he loved. He also loved going on cruises and traveling, embracing every opportunity to explore new places and make lasting memories.

When he wasn't outdoors or on an adventure, Joseph could often be found watching survivalist reality television shows, cheering on his beloved New Orleans Saints, or planning his next project. One of his greatest passions was decorating his yard for Christmas each year. His dazzling displays brought joy to countless neighbors and visitors, earning him the cherished SLECA Light Award. Joseph's Christmas spirit, creativity, and enthusiasm made the holiday season a little brighter for everyone around him.

Though Joseph's presence will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the stories shared about hunting and fishing trips, travel with friends, Mardi Gras celebrations, Christmas gatherings and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.

"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him."
