Joseph Elford
Fontenot
Sep 5, 1939 — Sep 9, 2026
He is survived by his loving family, who will forever cherish the memories they made with him: his son, Joseph "Joey" Fontenot, Jr., and wife Angela; daughters, Karen A. Nail and husband Michael "Mike," and Kristie F. Branton; brothers, Bobby J. Fontenot and Sylvan J. Fontenot and wife Diana; and sister, Ezola F. Barrett and husband Mel M. Barrett.
He was a proud grandfather to Jake A. Angelle, Jared M. Angelle, Suzette Lake-LeJeune, Amanda Fontenot, Molly Davis, and Hannah Trahan, and a beloved great-grandfather to Conner Angelle, Mason Angelle, Kamryn Angelle, Adelynn Angelle, Hayden Sonier, and Drake Michelle. He was also blessed with a great-great-grandchild, Arthur Sonier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Celestin B. and Aline G. Fontenot; his sister, Ervis F. Broussard; and his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia Fontenot. Their life together was filled with love, family, and many treasured memories, and her memory remained an important part of his life.
He was a faithful parishioner of St. Bernadette Parish Catholic Church, where his faith and connection to his church community were an important part of his life.
Outside of his family and faith, he enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special. He loved spending time on the golf course with his buddies, sharing good times, laughter, and friendship. He also enjoyed traveling and making memories along the way. Above all, he treasured his family and the time he spent with the people he loved.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, friendship, and countless memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, extended family, and friends.
