Joseph Ivy Dean, Jr.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Joseph "Pachut" Ivy Dean, Jr., 75, a beloved member of the Houma community. Joseph was a proud American Indian with a passion for shrimping. His love for the water was evident in his decades-long career as a commercial fisherman.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation in his honor on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Chauvin Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Martha Foret Dean; daughters, Ilene Dean (Jules Pitre), Margie Dean (James Ronquille), Crystal Parfait (Mark), and Maranda Van (Phong); grandchildren, Renada (Ernest), Jace (Bria), Mark (Elizabeth), Farah, and Jaydon (Brianna); great-grandchildren, Tai'Lyn, Mila, Brynleigh, Kenley, Caden, Parker, Noah, Kaisleigh, Koen, and Sophie; bonus grandchildren, Mark, Jr., Bresa, and Karma; brothers, Roy Dean, Jessie Dean, and Jerry Dean.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Mary Ezella Dean and Joseph Dean, Sr.; sister, Mary Dean; and brother, Leroy Dean.

Joseph will forever be remembered for his work ethic and deep dedication to his family, especially his loving wife, Martha Dean. His warm and hospitable nature made him a favorite among many - known for throwing lively parties, boiling seafood, and always sharing good music and laughter with those around him.

Joseph's genuine and caring personality shone through in every interaction he had, as he was never one to shy away from making new friends. His flirtatious charm and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

Those who wish to pay their respects and celebrate his life are welcome to join us in remembrance of a man who cherished his time with family, found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and touched the hearts of many with his kindness.

May his spirit continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind, forever guiding them with his warmth and love.

The family would like to thank Haydel Hospice and everyone that helped care for Pachut these past few months.
