John E. “Ned” Archer, Jr. passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 86 years old after a brief illness. He was born in Centreville, MS on January 27, 1940. He spent his early childhood in Centerville until his family re-located to Baton Rouge where he lived all his life up until this last year.
He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Archer, Sr.,mother, Olivia Louise (Hughs) Archer, sister, Glenney Archer and grandson, Kolton Kepper.
Survived by his five children and spouses; John E. “Ned” Fasullo (Amy), Amy Sobert (Todd), Amber Kepper (Gary Tuers) Amanda Hochenedel (Eric), Mary Katherine “K-K” Archer and their mother, Kathleen, twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his close friend, Donna Lahners,
Ned was a graduate of BRHS and LSU where he received his degree in accounting. He served his country in the US Army before returning to LSU to complete that degree.
In the early 80’s he got his contractor’s license and founded his own company, Archer Construction which flourished as one of the largest builders of apartments and 4-plexes in South Louisiana until the crash of the economy in the late 80’s.
Falling back on his accounting degree he worked for several years for the La. Tax Commissioner, as well as operating his own book-keeping and accounting business until just about two years ago when his health forced a change in life and he retired to a nursing home living.
Ned was a character to say the least. Always had something to say about everything and everyone sometimes made you laugh; sometimes made you roll your eyes and often it was a little sarcastic. IYKYK! You either loved Ned or hated him and sometimes a little of both, but you always knew where he stood.
There will be a Celebration of Ned’s Life on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Café American 7521 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA. 70806 from 12:30 to 2:30pm. Relatives, friends and acquaintances are invited to come and share stories.
