Jerome Benedict Portier
February 25, 1959 - April 20, 2026
Jerome Benedict Portier, a native of Houma, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of Bourg, passed away at the age of 67.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at St. Joseph Church on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., with the rosary, Mass, and burial to follow. Jerome will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Colleen Portier; his children, Kristi Dardar (Gilbert), Shawn Portier (Tori), Brett Portier (Adda), and Brittany Boudreaux (Al); along with his 11 cherished grandchildren, Marley, Ryleigh, Breelyn, Jake, Tenley, Max, Jackson, Lane, Lyza, Emmitt, and Emersyn. His grandchildren brought him immense pride and joy.
He is also survived by his mother, Bernadine P. LeBoeuf; his sisters, Ramona Brunet (Jestin), Marcia Rogers (Bobbie), Jan Moore (Matt), Marion Lirette (Michael), Rosalyn Boudreaux, and Linda Hernandez (Rick); and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Willard Joseph Portier; Wilton LeBoeuf ("Pops"); his brother, Aaron Portier; his brothers-in-law, Kevin Boudreaux and Donald Picou; his mother-in-law, Norma Neil; his sister, Anne LeBoeuf; and his niece, Madyson Neil.
Jerome worked as a supervisor at Benoit Machine Shop, where he dedicated more than 40 years of service. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and his willingness to help others.
Jerome was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg. His greatest life lesson was to believe in God above all. He valued listening to others and deeply valued his lifelong friends.
Jerome found joy in the simple things in life, such as hunting, fishing, playing cards, and especially fixing things for family and friends. He was always the one you could count on. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, especially teaching them how to play chess or fix something.
Some of his most treasured memories included Christmas celebrations, time spent at Grand Isle as a child, fishing with his father, and family gatherings filled with laughter and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Breakthrough T1D in honor of Jerome, and in support of his daughter and grandson living with Type 1 diabetes.
