Jane Elizabeth Lyons

It is with heavy hearts and joyful memories that we celebrate the life of Jane Elizabeth Lyons, born July 7, 1970 (7-7-70) in Houma, Louisiana. Jane passed away on January 20, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy that will forever live in the hearts of her family, friends, and students.

A dedicated educator, Jane spent countless years inspiring young minds at Legion Park Elementary School. She ignited curiosity, nurtured growth, and poured unwavering compassion into every child she taught. Her students adored her, and she consistently went above and beyond to care for them, making each feel seen, loved, and valued.

Jane was a devoted wife, and she and her husband set a beautiful example for their children, showing them what a true covenant between two people should look like.

Her roles as a loving mother and cherished grandmother were the greatest joys of her life. She treasured creating lasting memories with her grandchildren, who will carry her love with them always. Family meant everything to Jane. She believed deeply in keeping everyone connected, serving as the glue that held them together.

She had the rare gift of meeting people exactly where they were, accepting each person fully, and somehow becoming "everyone's mama" along the way.

Often known as the "Birthday Singing Queen," Jane never missed an opportunity to celebrate those she loved. Her joyful spirit, infectious laughter, and unforgettable humor filled every family gathering. Life will feel much quieter and far less fun without her radiant presence, and gatherings will never quite be the same.

Outside of teaching, Jane lived with an adventurous heart. She loved traveling, especially enjoying fun getaways and cruises with friends and family. Her laughter often rang out as she danced to her favorite R&B music, surrounded by her beloved fur babies - Stassi, Bella, and Delilah. A true foodie at heart, Jane never turned down a good meal. Her family and friends will deeply miss her jambalaya, crab stew, and banana bread. Our treasured family tradition of making Christmas tamales will never be the same without her contagious laughter, loud, loving personality, seeing her in her famous tamale dress (moo moo), and the joy she brought into every moment.

Jane is survived by her mother Maria Comer, her sisters Melva, Rosa, and Cindy (D.J.); her children Clayton (Erica), Christy (Micheal), Hillary (Chase), and Shawn; and her many grandchildren.

She is joining her beloved husband Hilliard Lyons, her father Melvin Comer, her sister Maria Comer, and her niece Kayla Verret in heaven.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Chauvin Funeral Home's Magnolia Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery.

We invite all who knew and loved Jane to join us in honoring her life and legacy, as we remember the joy she brought into our lives. She will be dearly missed.
