James Anthony
Thibodaux Sr.
Jan 12, 1982 — Jul 15, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Anthony Thibodaux, Sr., who departed this life on July 15, 2026, at the age of 44. Born on January 12, 1982, in Thibodaux, Louisiana, James brought warmth and laughter into the lives of everyone he met. A devoted husband and father, he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
James built a career as a Measurement Tech in the local oil field industry, where his skill and dedicated work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues. Outside of work, he found solace and joy in fishing, riding his motorcycle, woodworking, and building low riders and sound systems. James was always known as the life of the party. Many fondly remember his adventurous spirit and one of a kind stories, including the times he would jokingly recall fearlessly pulling a knife out of his own chest or almost accidentally taking off the top of his thumb, leaving everyone momentarily shocked and then laughing.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Dawn Thibodaux, and their children James Anthony Thibodaux, Jr. (Olivia), Blake Thibodaux, and Katelyn Thibodaux. He is also remembered by his granddaughter, Alayna Thibodaux, who brought him immense joy. James is also survived by his mother-in-law, Colleen Douglas; his brothers-in-law Albert Blount, Thomas Douglas, and Kenneth; as well as numerous friends and family members who loved him dearly.
James was preceded in death by his parents Joachim Francis Thibodaux and Julie Chatagnier Thibodaux; his father-in-law Cecil Douglas, and his brothers-in-law, John Douglas and Dominic Douglas.
He was blessed with friendships that felt like family, particularly with Daniel, who provided unwavering support throughout his life. Most importantly, James held a deep faith in Jesus Christ, cherishing the gift of salvation and the hope that it provided him.
In remembrance of James Anthony Thibodaux, Sr., the family invites all who knew him to join them for a visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home's Magnolia Chapel on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
In celebrating his life, we honor the beautiful moments shared and the enduring love that will forever live in our hearts. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
