MICHAEL FOUCHEUX
December 8,1944 - March 8, 2026
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Michael Foucheux, age 81, of Monument, Colorado died March 8, 2026 in Colorado Springs, CO.
Irvin "Michael" Foucheux was born in Houma, Louisiana on December 8,1944 to Stanley and Helen Foucheux. He was very proud of his Cajun heritage and had fond memories of growing up fishing and hunting with his Dad, cousins and friends in the swampy waters of South Louisiana. Michael graduated in 1962 from Terrebonne High School and from Nicholls State College in 1972. Between high school and college, he held many oil field related jobs. He attained his Single Engine Private Pilot's License, Scuba Diving Certification, and completed three years active military service in the US Army from 1966 to 1969. He was stationed in Germany for most of his Army years with the 708th Maintenance Battalion of the 8th Infantry Division. The military encouraged his interest in working with, then new, computer technology.
After marrying, Michael and Mary moved to Houston TX. Five years later, they welcomed their son, Michael Paul, just weeks before accepting a position with Huffco Indonesia as Logistics and Materials Manager. Daughter, Michaela Beth was born less than two years later. While in Indonesia, Michael became involved with the famous running club "The Hash House Harriers," and continued with them throughout the 70's and 80's blazing off path cross-country running trails all over the world. In the 80's, Michael began work with Amoco Oil Company in Trinidad as Logistics Manager. He eventually retired from BP Oil Company as a Senior Computer Systems Analyst. After retirement, Michael and Mary moved to their beloved Fouch Farms in Buffalo, TX. He continued working part time contract jobs with American Servoil and Anadarko Petroleum Company in Mozambique and Trinidad. He loved his years on the farm in Buffalo, playing with his many pups, driving his tractor, raising fish and ducks in the pond, starting an orchard and vineyard, and helping Mary in her vegetable and flower gardens.
Upon the arrival of their second grandchild, Michael and Mary decided to move to Monument, Colorado and were often on the road between Colorado and Texas to spend time with family in both locations. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was present for recitals, sporting events and school activities. There wasn't a mountain Michael didn't want to climb and challenged everyone to "beat me up the hill." He loved hiking, sledding and hot tubbing with the Grands. He was a writer, poet and storyteller who loved to teach us about the stars. Michael was looking forward to our annual spring trip to Texas to spend time with family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father and mother, Stanley and Helen Foucheux, his grandson Bradley, and his sisters, Judy and Bonnie. Michael is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary, his son Michael (Stacie) and granddaughter, Riley, his daughter Michaela (Jeremy) and grandchildren Roman and Grace, his sister Joan (Glenn), and brother Kerry (Mary). He is also survived by his 15-year-old pup, Sonny, who was his constant companion. Michael will be missed by family and extended family and friends in Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Colorado and around the world.
Visitation and memorial service for Michael will be held April 25, 2026 at Chauvin Funeral Home, Houma LA from 9-11 am with interment immediately following at the Foucheux Family tomb located at Magnolia Cemetery in Houma LA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society would be appreciated.
