Irene John

Irene Marie Palombo John, age 90, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. She was a native of Kaplan and a resident of Houma, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. with burial following in St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery.

Irene is survived by her sons, Carroll W. John and wife, Beverly, and Carol L. John, Jr. and wife, Bridgette; daughter, Mathilda D. John; sister, Antonia P. Hernandez and husband, Jorge; grandchildren, Cara "Lynnie" Domangue, Brandy Smith and husband, Robert, Todd John and wife, Kelly, Scott John, Samuel Domino and wife, Adrienne, Chrissy Henry, Philip Clements and wife, Brittini, Courtney John, Garrett John and fiancé, Brianna Zanashir, and Jenna John; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carol Lee John, Sr.; parents, Antoine and Dora Choate Palombo; and brother, Leo Palombo and wife, Lillian.

Irene was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was the owner of John's Embroidery. She was a past member of the Krewe of Cleopatra. Irene enjoyed embroidering, dancing, fishing, celebrating Mardi Gras, going to the casino with her husband, and spending time with family and friends. She will be missed by all whose hearts she touched.
