Honoring Ms. Ilinie's Impact on the Community:
Ms. Ilinie has made extraordinary contributions to her community by showcasing her sewing talents with the police department, biker clubs, and the U.S. military, expertly customizing their uniforms with her distinctive skills. Whether it involved crafting formal attire for local Mardi Gras crews, designing wedding dresses, or simply hemming a pair of pants, she became the go-to expert for all sewing needs.
· Mastering the Craft
o She learned the art of hand sewing from her mother and, with encouragement from her family and her own determination, honed her alteration skills.
· A Community Staple
o For over 50 years, she has been a cherished presence at the mall, beginning in the back room of Danny’s Men’s Wear before moving to her own delightful two-room space upstairs. Everyone knew her, often stopping by to lend a hand or share a friendly chat.
· Her Love for Nature
o Throughout much of her adult life, she has shared her home with several companion pets who adored her, alongside a passion for plants and trees. She was actively involved in the orchid community in both California and Houma.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of her life and supported her and her business.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to leave a gift or flowers, plant a tree in Ms. Iline's memory.
