Hewitt Neal

Hewitt “Nome” Paul Neal, age 79, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021. He was a native of Chauvin and a resident of Houma, LA.

Nome is survived by his sons, Michael Neal and wife, Becky, Mark Neal and wife, Stacey, and Malcolm Neal and wife, Audra; daughter, April N. Moore and husband, Tracy; grandchildren, Jhy Neal and companion, Kelsey Melancon, Hobie Neal and wife, Lindie, Raynna Dupre and husband, Joshua, Trent Moore and wife, Whitney, Bryce Neal and companion, Lauren Authement, Noah Neal, Jaydon Neal, Hannah Neal, Sarah Neal and companion, Russell Naquin, Aubin Neal, Zane Neal, Hunter Martin, Chelsea Martin and Candice Billiot and companion, Mikey; great-grandchildren, Walter Moreira, Liam Foret, Branson Neal, Baylor Neal, Beau Neal, Huntley Neal, Nikko Neal, and Silas Naquin; and companion and dancing partner, Barbara Macina.

Nome was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Sevin Neal; parents, Lucious and Stella Thibodaux Neal; brother, Danny Neal; sisters, Molly Livingston and Ella Mae Danos.

 Nome was a parishioner of St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church. He was a tugboat captain and commercial fisherman. He enjoyed hunting, doing woodwork, and spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all whose hearts he touched.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ochsner Main Campus, the Carpenter House, and St. Joseph Hospice for their love and compassion.
