Herbert Joseph Theriot, age 95, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026. He was a native of Theriot and resident of Houma.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A private burial will take place at a later date. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Eloi Catholic Church on March 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Herbert is survived by his daughters, Alice Naquin (Robert "Yogi"), Sarah Voisin Canfield (Richard); son, Burt Theriot (Dana); step-daughters, Jennifer Giles (Gene), Rometra Dove; step-sons, Christopher Voisin (Paula), Bradley Voisin (Pamela); 9 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Patrick Theriot (Patricia).
Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, John Theriot and Aimee' Theriot; infant daughter, Paula M. Theriot; brothers, Carroll, Elton, John Roy and Clinton Theriot; infant brothers, Jean and Francis; sisters, Madge Landry, Elsie Rhodes Andrews, Cecile Evans, Lydia Champagne; son-in-law, Michael C. Voisin; first wife and mother of his three children, Lorraine Samanie; second wife, Vivian Champagne Theriot.
Herbert had a zest for life that was evident in all he did. He loved dancing and sharing his culinary passions with family, especially known for his delicious fig newtons. An adventurous spirit, he found joy in alligator hunting and made a notable appearance in the popular TV show, "Swamp People."
Herbert was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He was not only known for his craftsmanship but also for his unwavering commitment to his community through his service as a eucharistic minister and altar server at St. Eloi Church, where he dedicated many years to his faith.
Above all, Herbert cherished his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Herbert will be remembered for his love, kindness, and dedication to family and faith. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Herbert's caregivers, Rhonda ,Suzzette, Jarilyn, Phyllis and Haydel Memorial Hospice for all their love and care.
