Gerald Joseph Bonvillain, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 10:26am. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00am until service time. A Liturgy of the Word will follow at 11:00am with burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

Gerald is survived by his loving family; his son, Chad Bonvillain; siblings, Floyd Bonvillain, Wayne Bonvillain, Larry Bonvillain, Timmy Bonvillain, Brenda Kurtz, Kathy Chauvin, and Mary Champagne. He is also survived by his precious puppy Peanut.

Gerald is preceded in passing by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Patsy Kurtz Bonvillain; parents, Alsia John Bonvillain and Blanche LeBlanc Bonvillain.

Gerald was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served during the Vietnam War.

Gerald was a loving husband, father and brother. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his puppy Peanut. Gerald kept a strong faith in Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary. He received much joy in praying the Rosary several times daily. He loved to share his enjoyment of flashlights with any and everyone that would listen. He always wanted to be known as a man who never met a stranger.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who assisted with his care over the last few years; especially Dr. Richard "Dicky" Haydel, Dr. Gregory Maidoh, and CCU Nurse Harold Benoit.
