With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gaynell Blanchard Airhart, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed from this world peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 14, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on September 28, 1945, in Napoleonville, Louisiana, Gaynell lived a life filled with love, warmth, and unwavering faith.
Gaynell is survived by her husband, Donald Airhart, Sr.; children, Heidi Airhart Pellegrin (Tim), Donald "Jamie" Airhart, Jr., Heather Elizabeth Airhart (Justin); grandchildren, Ross Joseph Pellegrin (Jahel) and Elizabeth Camille Pellegrin; loving brother, Alfred Blanchard, Jr. (Dianne)
Gaynell is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Blanchard, Sr. and Nelia Adams Blanchard.
Married to the love of her life, Donald Airhart, Sr., for 57 wonderful years, Gaynell cherished every moment spent with her husband. As a retired teacher in the public school system, she dedicated her life to shaping young hearts and minds, inspiring countless students with her passion for learning. Known for her friendly demeanor, Gaynell never met a stranger; her ability to connect with people from all walks of life made her a true beacon of kindness.
Gaynell found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether watching the birds at her cherished pond or reveling in the company of her family, she embraced each day as a gift. She held a special bond with her handicap son, Jamie, and adored her grandchildren, pouring love into every moment spent together. Her grand-dogs, Daisy, Ella, and Louie, also brought her great joy, as she cherished the companionship and happiness they provided.
A devout Catholic, Gaynell's faith was the foundation of her life. She served her Lord with devotion and grace, and her special bond with her cousin, Fr. Andre, was a testament to her deep spiritual commitment.
Gaynell's family is profoundly grateful for the compassionate care she received from Shellie Bourgeois, Haydel Memorial Hospice, and her son's caregiver, Sandy LeBouef, which allowed her to spend her final days surrounded by love and comfort.
