Evelyn Dorothy Carlson Melancon, 100, of Houma, Louisiana passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, with her loving family at her side. She was born on December 19, 1925, and was the beloved child of Archibald and Ruby Carlson.

Growing up in Houma, she graduated from Terrebonne High School and would later start her family whom she dedicated her life to as well as her friends. She loved cooking a meal for her loved ones and playing cards with her friends. She also had a special talent for sewing, crafting lifelong memories with every stitch.

To cherish her memories are her loving children; Beth Geist (Eric) and Steven Melancon (Marcie), her six grandchildren; Dr. Jared Geist, Brian Geist, Mark Melancon, Rebecca Cavagnaro, Melanie Leleux and Matthew Melancon, and her 13 great-grandchildren; Taylor Geist, Sarah Katherine Geist, Maeve Geist, Sonny Geist, Veda Melancon, Nash Melancon, Sydnie Cavagnaro, Luke Cavagnaro, Noah Cavagnaro, Evan Cavagnaro, Norah Leleux, Benjamin Leleux and Joel Leleux.

Evelyn is reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of 34 years, Weldon Melancon, her sister, Marion Carlson Powers Vogler, and her parents, Archibald and Ruby Carlson.

Evelyn spent the last seven years at the Azalea Estate Assisted Living in New Iberia, Louisiana, where she enjoyed wonderful fellowship and excellent care during her time there.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, October 24,2026, beginning at 9:30 AM till time of the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Francis De Sales Cathedral in Houma, LA. Interment will follow at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery #2.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital in honor of Evelyn Melancon.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Azalea Estates Staff and Dr. George Cousin, Hospice of Acadiana and Corey Theriot NP, for their compassion and support.
