Elaine Code Witty, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished family matriarch, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and family devotion.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Elaine on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church beginning at 10:00a.m. until the Mass of Christan Burial at 11:00a.m. Elaine will be laid to rest in St. Francis Cemetery #2 following her services.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Evelyn Krapp and John Code, Sr., Elaine built a life centered on the people she loved most. She and her beloved husband, William F. “Bill” Witty, shared 65 years of marriage and a remarkable bond that endured and sparkled for more than six decades. Bill was the love of Elaine’s life, and their devotion to one another was a beautiful example of lasting love and partnership.
Together, Elaine and Bill raised their family in Harahan, Louisiana, before retiring to Terrebonne Parish. Elaine proudly introduced herself as a “retired Mom!”—a title that perfectly captured both her humor and her lifelong commitment to her family. As a homemaker, she always put her family’s needs before her own, creating a home filled with care, guidance, and unconditional love. Married to a fireman, Elaine often held down the fort and took on the role of disciplinarian while Bill was away serving his community. Her strength and steady presence helped keep their family grounded.
Elaine was the loving mother of Pamela Witty-Oakland, married to Michael, who resides in Hawaii; William J. Witty, who preceded her in death and was married to Nadine; and Donna Witty Quin, married to Patrick. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Myles Lecompte, Micah Witty-Oakland, Breanna and Shelbie Witty, as well as her four great-grandchildren, who brought another generation of joy to her life.
Beyond her home, Elaine found enjoyment and fellowship in her community. She looked forward to weekly Bingo games at St. Rita Church in Harahan and generously gave her time as a volunteer and board member of the Mother’s Club. Whether serving others or gathering with friends, she valued the connections that made life meaningful.
Elaine was the baby sister of Evelyn “Dolly” Guidroz, John “Buddy” Code, Jr., and Sister Mary John Code, Daughters of Charity. She was also affectionately known as Aunt Elaine to her nieces and nephews, a role she held with love and pride.
Elaine’s life was defined not by grand gestures, but by the countless everyday acts of love, sacrifice, and devotion through which she cared for her family. She leaves behind treasured memories, family traditions, and a lasting example of what it means to put loved ones first.
Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, and her son, Billy. Though their absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love they shared and the family they built remains her enduring legacy.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that the love of her life, Bill, and her beloved son are once again close to her heart.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family, and her greatest gift was the love she gave them.Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Elaine Code Witty.
