Obituary

Edward J. Bonvillain, a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on January 1, 1946, in Houma, Louisiana, where he spent his entire life deeply rooted in family and community values.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral from 10:00 a.m. till time of the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

Edward devoted more than 40 years of his life to the oil and gas industry. He had a particular affection for LSU Baseball and cherished the annual tradition of attending the College World Series, where he enjoyed reconnecting with friends in Omaha.

Above all, Edward's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored and loved to support in all their endeavors.

To cherish Edward's memories is his beloved wife Merlene Bonvillain of 58 years, his son, Chad and wife Sue, his daughter, Monica and husband Mark, his grandchildren; Catherine Keen, Allie Buquet, Caroline, Jacob, and Joshua Louviere, his great-grandchildren; Heidi and Josie Buquet, Maurice "Tripp" Leo Keen, III and Adeline Keen, his sisters; Margaret Verret (Anthony) and Kate Theriot (Robert).

Edward is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Harry Joseph and Marguerite Fazzio Bonvillain, his brother, Randolph Bonvillain, his stepbrother, Charles Bonvillain, his sisters, Marie Houser, Frances Colwart, and Paula Theriot, and his stepsister, Dorothy Bonvillain.
