Dudley Joseph Eschete, age 95, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native and resident of Chauvin, La.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Catholic Church Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 9:30 AM until service time at 12:00 PM. Father Joey Lirette will be residing over the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Dudley is survived by his children, Allen Eschete (Johnny Belinda Buquet), Wayne Eschete (Patsy Derrington), Donald Eschete (Janice Voisin), Charlene Eschete Ryman (Jerry), Sandra Eschete Lirette (Kurt), Barbara Eschete-Firmature (Lynn), Mary Eschete Lapeyrouse (Leslie); 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and two on the way; sister, Drusella Eschete Duplantis; numerous nieces and nephews.
Dudley is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bergeron Eschete; a baby boy; parents, Henry "Chonk" and Hazel Hebert Eschete; brother, Dallas Eschete; sisters, Ida Eschete Picou, Mamis Eschete Dufrene; sister-in-law, Theresa Bergeron Blanchard.
Dudley was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a retired carpenter but continued his woodworking for many years after. Dudley enjoyed gardening, dancing, traveling, casinos, singing, cooking and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed his time working at Lagniappe on the Bayou Fair. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Fadi Abou-Issa, the entire staff at The Oaks Nursing Home, and St. Catherine's Hospice for all their love and care. Special thanks to Father Cody, Monsigner Brunet, and Sister Dion. The family would also like to thank all those who showed any love, care, and support throughout his life.
