Donald "Don" Fanguy

September 29, 1943 — February 21, 2022

Donald “Don” Joseph Fanguy, 78, passed away surrounded by his loving wife  and family on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11:04am.  Donald is a native and resident of Upper Little Caillou, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at St. Joseph Church in Chauvin, LA from 9:00am until service time.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at St. Joseph Church beginning at 11:00am.  Burial will take place after services in St. Elie Cemetery on Upper Little Caillou.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Melba Sevin Fanguy; daughter, Melodie Matherne; grandchildren, Tatum Fanguy, and Kerrin Matherne; sister, Nancy Guidry; sisters and brothers in law, Betty Sevin, Emelda Sevin, Mandy Gisclair, Andy and wife Roxanne Sevin, Earl Sevin and companion Mitzi Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Ardis “Dis” J. and Elodie “Dee” Hutchinson Fanguy; father and mother-in-law, Alvin J. and Lucille G. Sevin; brothers-in-law, Melvin Sevin, Tony Gisclair Sr. and Louis Matherne, sister-in-law, Earline Sevin Matherne; nephews, Scott and Ross Lovell.

Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Donald was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5013 and 4th degree member of Assembly 2214.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the Felicity Company after nineteen years of dedicated service.

 He enjoyed working on his computer, listening to music and watching movies. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan, LSU football fan. He was very handy and often called a jack of all trades.  He most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Internal Medicine Clinic of Houma staff, Dr. A. Brown, Dr. J. Goffin, Dr. R. Bourgeois, Mary Bird Perkins of Houma and Baton Rouge, LA, TGHS Er, Haydel Memorial Hospice and all their staff.  And to all who have provided love, support and prayers, especially Dr. Russell Henry, and to Andy and Roxanne Sevin for their love, care and help during this difficult time.

 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic; local and CDC regulations require facemask and proper social distancing while attending funeral services.
