Dennis Joseph Blanchard, age 75, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11:13 a.m. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Friday, April 9, 2021 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be held in St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Sue Carter Blanchard; son, Michael J. Blanchard and wife, Angela; daughter, Donna B. Lirette; brother, Gary Blanchard and companion, Faye Breaux; sister, Diana B. Wedgeworth; grandchildren, Lauren and Bradley Lirette, Zachary and Ethan Blanchard; and great-grandson, Eli Cortez.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Joseph and Nola Gisclair Blanchard; brothers, Raymond and Chris Blanchard.

Dennis was a retired Senior Vice President of First National Bank of Houma, now Hancock Whitney Bank. He was a graduate of the School of Banking of the South of Louisiana State University and the School of Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin. He was a past member of the Louisiana Bayou Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute, serving as its President in 1988-89. He was a certified instructor for the American Institute of Banking. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Houma, serving for many years on the club’s Board of Directors, high school Key Club Advisor, and as President in 1987-88. He was named Kiwanian of the Year in 1992-93. After leaving banking, he became a licensed locksmith and operated a successful locksmith service until his retirement after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to MacDonell United Methodist Children’s Services, 8326 Main Street; Building #10, Houma, LA 70363.
